Organizational Description

The Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy for Girls (The Academy) is a world-class educational platform for girls which is aimed at nurturing a new generation of dynamic women leaders. This residential boarding school is situated in Meyerton, Gauteng Province with just over 300 students enrolled in Grades 8 -12. Grade 12. Students write the Independent Examination Board (I.E.B.) NSC Examination.

Minimum academic requirements & experience

  • A Catering Management degree or any equivalent (NQF7) qualification;
  • Relevant catering management certification/s (i.e. Food Safety and Quality Assurance Certification, Hospitality or Event Planning, Dietary and Nutrition Certification, Stock Control, etc.);
  • A postgraduate qualification in Catering management or an equivalent will serve as an added advantage;
  • A minimum of five years experience in the management of overall catering operations;
  • A minimum of five years experience in events management;
  • A minimum of five years experience in banquet catering;
  • A minimum of three years experience in budgeting, financial forecasting, and procurement management;
  • A minimum of three years experience in managing external service providers;
  • A minimum of three years experience in people management.

  • Demonstrated ability in providing catering advice on strategic and operational development of catering management services.
  • Knowledge in developing and executing catering management solutions to meet customer needs.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of specialist event and banquet catering services.
  • Knowledge of statutory requirements applicable to the Occupational, Health and Safety Act (OHSA).
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the requirements within the Catering Industry, eg, the SA Chef Association.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the legislative requirements for the storage and transportation of food and beverages.
  • Strong commercial experience in budget forecasting and management.
  • Demonstrated skill in leading and managing people.
  • Demonstrated skill in project managing medium to complex scale projects.
  • Ability to foster strategic partnerships and manage internal and external relationships effectively
  • Strong customer relationship and stakeholder management skills.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement of the customer experience through service delivery excellence.
  • Ability to effectively convey complex technical issues or concepts to all stakeholders.

The Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy for Girls strives to provide a nurturing educational environment for academically gifted girls who come from impoverished backgrounds.
