Organizational Description

The Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy for Girls (The Academy) is a world-class educational platform for girls which is aimed at nurturing a new generation of dynamic women leaders. This residential boarding school is situated in Meyerton, Gauteng Province with just over 300 students enrolled in Grades 8 -12. Grade 12. Students write the Independent Examination Board (I.E.B.) NSC Examination.

Job Purpose

The main purpose of this position is to provide a comprehensive generalist, proactive and integrated HR business partnering advisory service to line management and employees within the Academy. We seek to appoint a pro-active individual who thrives in a fast paced, agile, challenging and complex environment, works well under pressure, finds creative and innovative solutions to problems, and is customer-focused.

Minimum academic requirements & experience

  • A relevant NQF7 qualification in HR or any related field.
  • At least five years relevant generalist HR experience in a business
    partnering capacity. Experience in an education environment will
    serve as an added advantage.
  • In-depth knowledge and practical experience of legal requirements
    related to human resources and employee management.
  • Evidence in delivery in an HR advisory capacity.
  • Experience in coaching and consulting in a changing environment.
  • Capable of developing and managing well-defined project plans to
    ensure that objectives are met.
  • Proven experience of working with an HRIS, Sage experience will
    serve as an added advantage.
  • Proven experience in developing, reviewing and implementing HR
    Policies.
  • Proven experience of working with service providers.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide strategic partnering, change management, operational and
    administrative service to the Academy.
  • Build and maintain constructive relationships with line managers and
    employees.
  • Provide guidance to management and employees about the Human
    Resources Strategy and Policies.
  • Advise, coach and support line managers and staff on a full range of
    HR functions and services such as recruitment and selection, HR
    Administration including contract administration, remuneration and
    benefits, induction, training and development, employment equity and
    transformation, employee wellness, organizational design, job design
    and evaluation, performance management and probations to ensure
    consistency with relevant legislation, Academy policies and
    procedures.
  • Facilitate and advise line managers and staff on employee relations
    in relation to disciplinary, grievance, restructuring, incapacity,
    conciliation, mediation, arbitration and compilation of evidence
    required for all these processes.
  • Proactively manage projects and change management initiatives.
  • Undertake specific projects, in consultation with the HR Manager to
    facilitate HR activities and enhance client service.
  • Provide timeous and relevant HR management information, data
    analytics and reports.
  • Educate and enforce adherence of policies to all staff.
