The Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy for Girls (The Academy) is a world-class educational platform for girls which is aimed at nurturing a new generation of dynamic women leaders. This residential boarding school is situated in Meyerton, Gauteng Province with just over 300 students enrolled in Grades 8 -12. Grade 12. Students write the Independent Examination Board (I.E.B.) NSC Examination.

Job Purpose

The Educational Psychologist provides comprehensive learner support through a cognitive, social, emotional, and developmental framework, prioritizing the holistic development of each learner as mandated by the HPCSA. This includes implementing psychological interventions, assessing learning needs, and working collaboratively towards educational outcomes. By offering emotional, social, and resilience-building
guidance, the psychologist ensures students are equipped to thrive both academically and personally. Through collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, the psychologist develops tailored interventions to promote academic performance, mental
health, and personal growth, supporting the Academy’s mission to cultivate wellrounded, resilient individuals.

Minimum academic requirements & experience

● Master’s Degree in Educational Psychology.
● Registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa.
● Up-to-date CPD profile.
● Proven experience working with vulnerable children and adolescents with a
history of trauma experiences.
● 3 years’ experience as an Educational Psychologist post registration with the
Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA).
● Proven experience working with children and trauma.
● Experience in therapeutic interventions and psychometric assessments.
● Experience in promoting the holistic well-being and development of all
students, academically, psychologically, and socially.
● Proven experience in working within a multi-disciplinary team.
● PGCE serves as an added advantage.
